More about the programme of the Global Montessori Games

The first ever Global Montessori Games will be hosted by Montessori College Nijmegen & Groesbeek in the Netherlands. It will be held be held from Monday 16th of September until Saturday 21st of September 2019. The organisation is currently planning the event and more details will follow when available.

Provisional programme for the Global Montessori Games 2019:

Monday September 16
Day 1 : arrival day
All pupils and coaches go to Montessori College Nijmegen (Kwakkenbergweg 27, 6523 MJ Nijmegen) after they arrived in Nijmegen.
Everyone will register for the event and receive their information package.
Guest can choose between:
a) Guided tour of the school
Go directly to host family (or hotel for the coaches)
Students will have a meal at their host family. Coaches can have a lunchbox / meal at school (if needed, please register for these options)

Tuesday September 17
Day 2: sports

Word of welcome & warming up all together by ID Dance instructor
Morning tournament: Field Hockey
Lunch time
Afternoon tournament: Football
Speeddate event / get to know each other
Dinner at hostfamilies (pupils)
Dinner at school for coaches
Opening Ceremony at NEC Stadium De Goffert
– Word of welcome bij mayor of Nijmegen Hubert Bruls
– Special guest organized by NOC*NSF
– Cultural evening / exchange of cultural things and dances

Wednesday September 18
Day 3: Cultural day

Two Buses leave at Montessori College Nijmegen for Amsterdam
Participant can choose between two museums:
Bus 1) Nemo museum
Bus 2) Van Gogh museum
Lunch at the Dam (central square)
Spare time in Amsterdam
This is Holland – get a virtual tour of The Netherlands
Dinner at a pancake boat
Two buses leave for Nijmegen and will go back to Montessori College Nijmegen

Thursday September 19
Day 4: Connecting

Morning tournament: korfball
Lunch time
Workshop afternoon: first round
Workshop afternoon: second round
Pupils have dinner at their host families
Network meeting at school. All teachers are invited to share experiences. Snacks and a buffet will be provided.

Friday September 20
Tour of Nijmegen:
a) Explore Nijmegen by foot
b) Explore Nijmegen by bike
Lunch at Kronenburgpark in Nijmegen
Go to Goffertpark by bike
At Goffertpark: have an afternoon full of games
Pupils have dinner at their host families
Dinner for coaches in restaurant in Nijmegen
Closing ceremony and party time at Montessori College Nijmegen
